“Practicing with total attention within the body is advanced yoga, no matter how easy the posture; practicing with your attention scattered is the practice of a beginner, no matter how difficult the posture.” ~ David Coulter
Some days, this is my most difficult pose…
“Breathing is an art. Do you know how to use mindfulness to rebuild your mental and physical health? Find peace, happiness, and joy in every breath.” ~ Thich Nhat Hanh
This is an amazing talk. It’s long, but it’s worth it. Thich Nhat Hanh is a Vietnamese Zen Buddhist teacher. Give him a listen! He’ll blow your mind. Poof.
Full Audio with Singing
Hey everyone! This is my new favorite song to listen to while I practice… Just wanted to share it with you. Have a lovely day!
Here’s a great article about the Ashtanga opening chant. We chant to honor those who have passed the tradition of yoga on to us. To show gratitude for our teachers, their teachers, and so on. ♥
The BANDHAS are internal body locks that direct the flow of energy during yoga practice:
Jalandhara Bandha ~ Chin Lock
Uddiyana Bandha ~ Abdominal Lock
Mula Bandha ~ Root Lock
Maha Bandha ~ All Three Combined
David Kyle is the Mula Bandha King. In this video, he shows what a person can do with good bandha control.
Vinyasa is defined as the linking of body movement with breath, but it’s also used to describe a specific sequence of breath-synchronized postures (Chaturanga Dandasana, Upward Facing Dog, and Downward Facing Dog). This video is a beautiful example of the second definition, often practiced many times during a vinyasa yoga class.
It’s Ganesha’s birthday! Om Gum Ganapatayei Namaha. May all your obstacles be removed and your path ahead be clear.
